Leadership In A Time of Change

I was one of the members on the Superintendent search committee responsible for evaluating and interviewing candidates to replace Dr. Scott Rubin. This was one of the most important roles I have had as a Board Member. I recognized how critical this job was and took the responsibility very seriously, knowing that the person selected would have a profound impact on the future of our schools and community. With that in mind, I thought carefully about the qualities our next leader should embody.
As a member of the Cranford Board of Education and a parent who has been part of this community for 20+ years, I care deeply about every student, every teacher, and every family in our district. My own children have walked the halls of our schools, including one with an IEP, and I understand firsthand the importance of ensuring that every learner is supported, challenged, and empowered. These experiences guide my work on the Board and my vision for the leadership our schools need.
I wanted a superintendent who truly listens—not just to the loudest voices, but to every family, teacher, and staff member—and who builds trust through honest, transparent communication. Our community deserves a leader who is approachable, collaborative, and genuinely invested in the success and well-being of every student.
Instructional and strategic leadership is especially close to my heart because I know what it’s like to stand in a classroom. As a Teacher, I understand the joys, challenges, and dedication it takes to meet each child’s unique needs. I wanted a superintendent who not only ensures every student has access to high-quality, inclusive learning but also values and supports our teachers, recognizing the hard work and commitment they bring to each day. Strengthening in-district special education programs is deeply important to me, so all students—regardless of their needs—can thrive and families feel fully supported in our town.
Supporting our educators goes hand in hand with this work: we need a leader who can recruit, retain, and nurture talented teachers, create a positive and empowering environment, and provide meaningful growth opportunities that inspire excellence across every school.
As our district begins a major construction phase following the recent referendum, I wanted a superintendent who can guide these projects responsibly—ensuring our facilities are safe, modern, and aligned with student learning—while being mindful of the community’s investment.
Above all, we need a superintendent who is visionary, compassionate, and accountable—someone who shares my commitment to every student, every family, and every teacher, and who will lead Cranford schools with integrity, heart, and a steadfast belief in the promise of our community. Most importantly, I wanted a leader who will listen to every voice in our community and ensure that every perspective helps guide the future of our schools.
