From my perspective, there are three essential elements to ensuring that students feel safe in school: first, meeting the social and emotional needs of every student; second, maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship between the District and the Police Department; and third, keeping parents informed and engaged in the process. When parents feel confident about the District’s choices regarding safety, their children are more likely to feel secure and supported at school. I am grateful to the Cranford Police Department for having included both the PTC and Board of Education representation on the Advisory Committee, and I remain committed to advancing this vital work so that every student can learn and thrive in a safe environment.
Security & Student Well Being
During my time as PTC President, I had the privilege of serving on the Cranford Police Department’s Police Advisory Board, representing the Parent Teacher Council in important conversations about police initiatives, policies, and community safety. That experience reinforced my belief that school safety requires an active and transparent partnership between the Police Department and the School District. Together, we must not only assess, prevent, and respond to potential dangers, but also stay current on best practices for keeping schools safe and thoughtfully implement them within our community.
